In 1990, he went to the UK to work as a Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, working solely in criminal law. In 1995, he moved (back) to Australia and worked as a solicitor/advocate for the NSWLAC and the ODPP, before making a lifestyle move to the NT in early 2000. Since then, Mark has worked for NAALAS, the NTLAC (as criminal law counsel), the Coroner’s Office (as Deputy Coroner) and the Office of the DPP (as Crown Prosecutor). In October 2003, Mark joined the NTBA when he started work at the independent bar at Edmund Barton Chambers. He moved to William Forster Chambers early in 2005.
Mark has been involved as a committee member for the NSW Law Society, as a director (and treasurer) for Kamira Farm (a drug rehabilitation organisation), volunteer at Macquarie Legal Centre and DCLS, and as a tutor/lecturer at CDU, as past secretary/treasurer of the NTBA and as past president of the Criminal Lawyers Association of the NT (CLANT). He is admitted to practice in the NT, in NSW and in England & Wales.
Mark is married and has a daughter and two sons. His interests include golf, wood-working and walking with his dogs.
Mark practices in trial and appellate work in the fields of criminal law, coronial law, admiralty law, family law and a variety of other civil law areas.
